We're back! Physically present at least. After 3 weeks overseas and a truly splendid break away, we are paying the price of our folly via sleepless jetlagged nights, vigorous toddler tantrums and general post-holiday-getting-back-into-the-swing-of-it-all-adjustment.
In terms of ZEN, holidays do take some beating. Family, friends, a change of scene, good food and laughter are nourishment for the soul indeed. The waistline has taken a bit of a battering but all in the name of enjoyment and pleasure. It's nothing that can't be sorted with a bit of healthy living and planking. Check out my Planking Challenge here.
Meditation has been an utter joy while on holiday. I haven't necessarily "needed" it as I usually do to help me relax. Rather, I've wanted to do it as it feels good. It's been an indulgence like a long hot bath - time to myself - feeling fresh, upbeat and positive when it's finished.
I'm 80 days into the one year meditation challenge and still the only downside I can even come close to feeling is on busy days....how do I fit it in? Other than that, while not clear and tangible, I do feel the 20 or so minutes a day is adding tremendous value to my days, my mood, my decisions, and is definitely helping me sort out some busy thoughts and plans in my head.
As far as the trouble fitting it in - the walking meditation has been super-useful and I've used the sleep podcast many times too, both of which I can highly recommend. See Headspace on Soundcloud here.
Right I'm off to have an early night and pray for no 3am child-based wake-up calls.
