Faster Pasta BakeI have had my highs and lows with pasta. There's no getting away from the fact that it's cheap, easy and versatile but I find white pasta really bloating and stodgy. I do occasionally eat it (it does taste fabulous after all) but for every day, I usually opt for a lower gluten or higher fibre option like wholemeal or spelt. There are so many kinds of pasta on the market these days and any of them will work well in this dish. Small individual styles work well like penne, fusilli or macaroni.
If you soak your pasta in cold water for about an hour beforehand, it reduces cooking time by about half. I chuck it in to soak, go and collect the kids, them cook it in a few minutes when we get home. How to make
(note, instructions are a general guide only) Cook your pasta according to the packet Heat your sauce (stove or microwave) Mix the two together adding in any optional extras Transfer into an individual dish and top with cheese and a tiny sprinkle of dried herbs of your choice if using Place under a hot grill for around 4 minutes or until the cheese is melted and browning. Allow to cool a little if you're serving to kids - the hot cheese can burn little mouths! |
